Liability is always of interest to customers, especially in the U.S. and if Kongsberg Mesotech’s sonar technology can help reduce the liability risk by telling you exactly what’s underneath the water at your port or pier, port managers are interested. The editor of Inland Port magazine was very interested in having us write an objective article on how sonar can be used to help manage the issue of risk. Inland Port Sonar and Risk May June 2010
Kongsberg sonar in Seaports magazine – Summer 2010
Seaports magazine is the official magazine of the American Association of Port Authorities. Kongsberg Mesotech’s sonar is perfectly suited for surveying ports, bridges, dams, piers, and seawalls, etc. to provide acoustical “images” of the underwater situation. These can be used by port authorities to develop maintenance plans and also pursue funding for an expansion of the port facilities. In this podium article on behalf of Kongsberg in Seaports, Steve Campbell wrote on how sonar can help ports manage their aging infrastructure and make their maintenance budgets more productive.

Here, Burcon scientist Kevin Segall answered technical questions by email for the reporter to use as she needed.
